Instead of asking only what a character feels, ask what they want from the other person. That objective makes performance playable.

Acting is not only dialogue delivery. A tiny change after another person speaks—a breath, an averted eye, an answer held back—keeps the scene alive.
Contradiction makes people believable
People often behave against what they feel. Hiding vulnerability or finding fear inside anger gives a performance depth.
